Congratulations to two active network members – Dr Fiona Charnley (Cranfield University) and Dr Kate Black (University of Liverpool) – for recently being named amongst the Top 50 Women in Engineering (WE50). The WE50 campaign aims to raise awareness of the skills shortage facing the industry and the huge discrepancy between the number of men vs. women currently in Engineering professions, to change perceptions and encourage young women to consider Engineering as a viable and rewarding career. For 2018, the theme was Returners or Transferrers and open to women working in engineering or allied sector/discipline, having either returned after a break of at least 18 months or transferred to engineering from another sector.
Both Fiona and Kate are involved in feasibility studies funded through Connected Everything. Fiona is also a member of the Connected Everything Executive Group.
