The European Technology Platform on Smart Systems Integration – EPoSS – will host its 11th General Assembly and Annual Fo-rum in Graz, Austria on 19 and 20 October 2017. In light of new developments towards increased automation and connectivity, this year’s Annual Forum will focus on “Smart Systems for an Automated World”. In order to demonstrate new paths for smart systems, presentations shall focus on smart systems solutions for those application areas massively affected by automation and strongly benefiting from smart systems development. The presentations shall address one of the following application areas:
– Smart Systems for the Automated Factory
– Smart Systems for the Automated Hospital
– Smart Systems for the Automated Exploration, Monitoring and Management of Natural Resources
– Smart Systems for Automated Farming
– Smart Systems for Automated Transportation

Within these application areas presentations shall target different cross-cutting technologies and functionalities:
Technologies:
– Sense and control
– Monitoring and actuation
– Energy management
– Miniaturisation and integration
– Self-organisation and (neural) deep learning
Automation-related functionalities:
– Connectivity
– Safety, durability, reliability and re-usability
– Security
– Data: accessibility, randomisation, reliability, resilience, privacy
– Management of complexity, emergencies and uncertainties
– Self-sufficiency (incl. energy autonomy)
